Work organization Hazards

Hazards concerning stress (short-term effects) and strain (long-term effects) situations are becoming relevant, with growing indicators in the accidents related to situations of occupational stress regarding job demands, poor working conditions or workers relationships, demonstrating that a hazard does not need to have a physical presence.
It is difficult to assess a psychosocial hazard like the other hazards, since it is not something that can be attributed a value but it is possible to seek solutions according to the risk assessment.
Nevertheless, there are different strategies on interventions levels regarding stress management that ideally should be combined.
The primary prevention level aims to act at the source of the stress, reducing or eliminating them before the worker can experience it:
The secondary level targets individual workers to develop knowledge, skills and resources to deal their stress response.
The tertiary level pretends to rehabilitate workers who have had stress related problems in the past, with strategies to return them to their workplaces consisting in follows up and counselling.
